CCSE Celebrates Christmas with ITRMC Kids

The CCSE SBO conducted an outreach program at the Ilocos Training Region Medical Center last December 14, 2010.

It was lead by the President, Stephanny Tangalin with Alecka Fajardo(Vice President), Kim Han Piell Carmelo(Secretary), Winalyn Lumague(Treasurer) and Crystal Joy Apilado (Business Manger) through the support of Dr. Ana Belen Noble (CCSE Dean), Mr. Jeoffrey Layco(SBO Adviser), Engr. Randulf Andrada(SBO SBO Co-Adviser), and Mr. Dominique Flores (SBO Co-Adviser). There were six volunteers who assisted in the activity namely CJMaundy Dulay (BSCpE V), Marneliza Longalong (BSCpE III), Mc Liendle Florendo (BSCpE1), Jonathan Pajimola (BSIT IV), Kevin Ross Seno (BSIT III), and Angelica Lyza Rimorin (BSCpE I).

The targeted recipients were the children at the pediatric ward. There were 35 patients when the SBO Officers and some volunteers gathered data from the hospital but the SBO prepared more than 35gifts and unexpectedly there were additional patients when the outreach was conducted.

The outreach program was done to celebrate a simple Christmas party with the children at the pediatric ward who cannot have a Christmas party with their friends. The CCSE SBO gave gifts which contain pandesals, juice and fruits.

Lorma Reaches Out to Tagudtud Schools

With the dedication in helping the poor and less-fortunate, Lorma Colleges conducted an outreach activity last August 28, 2010 at Tagudtud Elementary School and Tagudtud National High School in Tagudtud, Bagulin, La Union.

Barangay Tagudtud was the adopted barangay of Lorma since 2009.

Headed by Ms. Antoinette Tejano, College Outreach Coordinator and Executive Director of Lorma Colleges, LC conducted its outreach program for its 2nd year in Tagudtud Elementary School and Tagudtud National High School consisting of Nutritional needs assessment, Health Services, Educational /Literacy Services, Sports Services, Environmental Services, Capability building/Livelihood Lectures and Spiritual Services.

A total of 52 participants composed of the department heads, staff and student leaders attended the said activity .The different participants were grouped in different service teams for the different programs prepared.

The Masters of Arts in Nursing Department (MAN), and Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM)) students were in charge of the Nutritional Needs Assessment of the 47 Grade -1 pupils together with 15 parents.

The College of Nursing (CON), Medical and Laboratory Science, Physical Therapy and Radiologic Technology were assigned on Health Services such as Children’s Hygiene Lecture (Lecture on proper hand washing, nail cutting and proper way of brushing of teeth), lectures on Dengue and Pulmonary tuberculosis, needs assessment of persons with disabilities which was participated by the 56 Grades 2 and 3 pupils together with 29 BHW.

On the other hand, representatives from College of Accountancy , College of Computer Studies and Engineering, Guidance, Registrar and Library conducted Story Telling to 56 Day Care and Kinder pupils and CD Viewing and discussion on Religion to 75 Grades 4, 5 and 6 pupils.

The members of the Student’s Affairs Office and Human Resources officiated the sports games like basketball, volleyball, and chess and also taught dancing lessons to 45 High School students. For the Environmental Services, the Research Clinic, Pharmacy Maintenance, and Transportation led the tree planting event consisting of 30 cashew and cacao seedlings together with 10 barangay officials and teachers.

The College of Management and Accountancy, STI, MITS met 10 Coop officials and gave them lectures on how to revive their cooperative. They also had an assessment on House Electrical Wiring Training to 25 interested persons. The Administration, ISO, BO also had their own job having needs assessment to the elementary teachers.

Aside from the services that the Lorma Colleges have rendered, they also donated 2 sets of Computers, 3 computer tables, 157 armchairs that was given last February, 4 volleyball balls with net, 2 basketball balls and 5 chess boards to the beneficiaries.

Headed by Brgy. Captain Saganit Lagasit, more or less 380 residents joined the outreach. The said barangay will be a 5-year beneficiary of LC.
